Mirzoyan. Regarding the latter, the Chairman of the CUA, as well as E. Makaryan, presented that this year the competition has significantly expanded, and in addition to the fact that applications from those wishing to participate in the competition exceeded two dozen, regional concerts were organized in the Ararat and Lori regions, which were held at a high level. Within the framework of this project, it is also planned to participate in an international forum for young people to be held in Russia. The Chairman of the CUA, in turn, emphasizing the importance of the project “On the same stage with the composer”, expressed hope that in addition to songs, this project may also include other chamber works that will be presented to both Yerevan and regional audiences.
Taking into account the regional nature of the year, the Chairman of the CUA presented the upcoming 9th Armenian Contemporary Music Festival, which will be held outside Yerevan for the first time, in Dilijan. Two regional orchestras will be involved in it – the Gyumri Symphonic Orchestra and the Vanadzor Chamber Orchestra, which will present Armenian music at the Beethoven Concert Hall in Dilijan. After some technical issues have been resolved, the selection of works will also be announced. Possible dates for the festival are August-September.
The Chairman of the CUA briefly presented the financial situation of the CUA, its income and expenses, future activities, as well as the purchase of 12 new chairs for the concert hall (for performers). Music stands will also be replenished in the near future. At the same time, a website was presented and recently launched, which is already available in a trilingual version under the domain “acu.am”. In the process, it will be placed on the already known address “composers.am”.
One of the important issues of the meeting was the discussion of the new version of the CUA Regulations, where those present also expressed their opinions. An agreement was reached to carry out spelling and editorial work on the new version with the assistance of musicologist Anna Arevshatyan, which, if finally approved, will first be submitted for approval to the Board, and then to the General Session of the CUA.
The Chairman of the CUA, having emphasized the role and importance of sections/departments, nevertheless asked those present to discuss further updating and rethinking of their functioning.
