In the solo cello sonata (1970), the traditional cyclical form is combined with prose-narrative characteristic of the music of the East. 40 choruses based on the composer’s folk songs and, 20 choruses (by Vahan Teryan) became an important novelty in the national choral literature. Vocal-symphonic and choral works are characterized by wide-ranging melodiousness and high civic resonance. The poem “Two Shores” (1952) for a cappella choir written in an extensive cycle form. The songs “Yerevan-Erebuni”, “Arpa-Sevan”, “Sardarapat” are widely popular. He also wrote music for films: “Northern Rainbow”, “Star of Hope” (“Mkhitar Sparapet”) and others.
