BIOGRAPHY

Graduated from the violin class of the State music college after R. Melikyan

1980 – graduated from the composition department at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas (YSCK) (profs. Gh. Saryan and A. Terteryan)

1980-1984 – the Armenian State Academic Capella (musical consultant)

Since 1989 – YSCK (lecturer)

1989-1990 – Glasgow “Scotland” University (lecturer)

1990-1992 – National Academic Theater after G. Sundukyan (music director)

1994-2002 – head of hymnology department and music editor of “Gandzasar” spiritual center

Since 1997 – the Armenian Contemporary Music Center (head)

Since 1999 – the Armenian Music Information Center (president)

Since 2000 – the Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival (founder and artistic director)

2000-2002 – “Vem” radio station (head)

2001-2002 – “Christian Armenia” and “All-Christian Culture” international classical and spiritual music festivals (artistic director)

Symphony No. 4 (2 versions) (commissioned by the Paragon Ensemble and the Scottish Arts Council)

2000 – Music for “Khor Virap” theater performance and the film of the same name (director: Kh. Abrahamyan) commissioned by the Government of Armenia and the Armenian Apostolic Church

2001 – “Angelic Tagh” for flute, oboe, violin, cello, piano and soprano (commissioned by “Ensemble of Soloists”)

2002 – “Entry” opera for orchestra, folk instruments (duduk, zurna, pku), Scottish bagpipes, Australian didgeridoo (commissioned by the “London Symphonietta”)

2008 – “Tagh Avetman” for flute, oboe, violin, cello, soprano, piano, percussion (commissioned by Cove Park Art Society (Great Britain))

2012 – “Tagh Holy Trinity” for flute, oboe, violin, cello, soprano, piano, percussion instruments (by the rder of “Dilijan” concert series (Los Angeles))

1998 – associate professor at the YSCK

2000 – professor at the YSCK

2003 – Academician of the International Academy of Natural Sciences and Society (IASNS)

2005 – Albert Schweitzer Medal in Hanover

2006 – gold medal of the RA Ministry of Culture

2006 – “Petros 1st” medal in Moscow

2006 – Academician of the European Academy of International Sciences

2007 – The Order of Leonardo da Vinci (Italy)

2009 – Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia

2014 – golden medal by the mayor of Yerevan

2016 – Medal “For Services to the Motherland” (2nd degree)
