
Meet The Composer: Alexander Arutunian
Arutunian was an Armenian composer and pianist widely known for his 1950 “Trumpet Concerto,” which was be performed at “The Call: A Concert for Veterans” on November 10.
Arutunian began playing piano at age seven under Alexander Spendiarian. He later studied at the Yerevan State Conservatory and traveled to Moscow for further training. In Moscow, he performed his music at the Armenian House of Culture.
Some of Arutunian’s other works include: “Festive Overture” (1949), “Sinfonietta” (1966), and “Symphony in C Minor” (1957).
