
In 2022, on October 30th, the XVI Congress of the Composers Union of Armenia was held. First, Aram Satian welcomed those present and proposed to elect the oldest member of the CUA, Martin Vardazaryan, as the Chairman of the Assembly (Armen Budagyan refused due to health problems). The Presidium was formed as follows:

Chairman Martin Vardazaryan presented the election procedure, then gave the floor to Deputy Minister of the MESCS RA Ara Khzmalyan, who was present at the meeting, and conveyed his greetings to those present. The meeting began with a report by Aram Satyan, who presented the activities of the union over the previous 5 years, then the chairman of the audit commission of the union, Arthur Mitinyan, spoke. The latter also presented CUA’s financial report.
Then there were speeches by candidates for CUA chairmen. The first to speak was Avetis Berberyan, who said that, as the director of the Gala Art exhibition hall, a few days ago he received a new offer of cooperation and, based on the expected workload, resigned. Next, Aram Hovhannisyan and Aram Satian spoke, who presented their vision of the further development of CUA. After the break, the head of the CUA Youth Forum Lilit Artemyan and the head of the “Dilijan” Composers’ Creativity House David Davtyan made short presentations. Presentations were made by Anna Asatryan, Yervand Yerkanyan, David Balasanyan, Edmond Makaryan, Hovhannes Manukyan, Svetlana Sargasyan, Stepan Babatorosyan, Stepan Rostomyan, Arsen Babajanyan, Ruben Antonyan, Arpine Kalinina, Tigran Mansuryan and others. Then the elections began. First, the chairman proposed the composition of the Accounts Committee: Sergey Umroyan, Gevorg Hovhannisyan, Edgar Ganjumyan, which was approved by those present. 90 members of the CUA had the right to participate in the elections (81 were present, another 9 members of the CUA made their choice the day before the congress by a special decision of the Council of the CUA). The votes of two candidates, Aram Satian and Aram Hovhannisyan, were distributed as follows:
Aram Sathyan – 56 votes,
Aram Hovhannisyan – 30 votes
4 ballots were declared invalid
Re-elected chaiman Aram Satian, in addition to his thank-you speech, immediately raised the question that the “Dilijan” Composers’ Creativity House would never be sold, either by decision of any leader or any department, unless more than 90 percent of all CUA members vote for this question. This decision was confirmed by those present and will be in the edited by laws.
The Assembly also approved the composition of the next CUA Council, which will consist of 18 members and a chairman, each of whom will have 1 vote.
