THE 14TH FESTIVAL OF ARMENIAN COMPOSING WILL BE HELD

With the support of the RA MESCS, the 14th Armenian Composing Art Festival will be held in Yerevan from March 16 to April 20. The founders of the festival were the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia and the Composers’ Union of Armenia.

2023 The festival programs are full of premieres. At the opening concert of the festival on March 16, the symphonic poem “Death” by Harutyun Dellalyan and Concertino for piano and orchestra by Norayr Harutyunyan will be performed for the first time in Armenia. The opening of the festival will feature the First Symphony of Jirayr Shahrimanyan, created as a result of the composer’s collaboration with the orchestra and dedicated to the Armenian State symphony orchestra.

The concert on April 17 will feature Aram Satian’s Cello Concerto with Orchestra, David Sakoyan’s “Passacaglia and Fugue No. 2” for symphony orchestra, and Jivan Ter-Tadevosyan’s Fifth Symphony “Paganini” dedicated to Dmitry Shostakovich.

At the concert on April 20, music lovers will hear Suren Zakaryan’s “Monograph for cello and chamber orchestra”, Tigran Mansuryan’s Cello Concerto No. 1 dedicated to the memory of Dmitry Shostakovich, as well as excerpts from Grigor Yeghiazaryan’s ballet “Sevan”.

The festival will feature pianist, laureate of international competitions Lilit Artemyan and cellist David Yezhov with the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia. The final concert of the festival will feature renowned cellist Levon Muradyan, who will perform Tigran Mansuryan’s First Cello Concerto and Suren Zakaryan’s “Monograph” for cello and orchestra.

The concerts of the XIV Festival of Armenian Composing Art Festival will be conducted by the artistic director and principal conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia Sergey Smbatyan, as well as the orchestra’s principal guest conductor Gianluca Marciano and Remi Duru, the first prize winner of the renowned “Antal Dorant” International Conducting Competition.
