Born on 02/06/1953 in Samtskhe-Javakheti (Akhaltskha).

BIOGRAPHY

1961-1967 – Samtskhe-Javakheti music school (teacher: Ts. B. Akhvlediani)

1968-1972 – composition and theoretical departments at the State music college after R. Melikyan (prof. E. Baghdasaryan)

1972 – composition (prof. Al. Harutyunyan), piano (prof. E. Abrahamyan) and conducting (prof. H. Voskanyan) departments at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas (YSCK)

1978-1983 – Tatul Altunyan State Song and Dance Ensemble (head of the instrumental part)

1983-1986 – Saharuni folk song-dance ensemble (art director and conductor)

1987-1991 – The State Ensemble of Gusan and Folk Songs of Armenia (art director and conductor)

1994-1997 – RA Radio and Television A. Merangulyan folk instruments ensemble (art director and conductor)

1996-1998 – “Old Yerevan” vocal-instrumental ensemble (artistic director and pianist)

Since 1984 – State music college after R. Melikyan (head of the department of folk instruments and the orchestra)

Since 1996 – YSCK (lecturer of the general piano departement)

Since 2000 – The State Ensemble of Gusan and Folk Songs of Armenia (artistic director and conductor)

Since 2011 – “Masters” ensemble (artistic director and chief conductor)

1972 – Piano Trio

1975 – “Armenia” symphonietta

1976 – “Sardarapat” cantata for choir and symphonic orchestra (by G. Emin)

1976 – Song-ballad “If the stones can talk” to the 40th anniversary of the great victory (1st prize of the All-Union competition)

1977 – “Concert-poem” for piano and symphonic orchestra

1980-1987 – More than 30 songs and dances written and arranged for the Altunyan Song and Dance Ensemble:

“Holiday” song-dance, “Erzrum Shoror” song-dance (by Hr. Hovhannisyan), “My Sorrow to the wind” (by H. Shiraz), “Karabakh folk dances”, “Hay Nubar” series of folk songs

“Hoy im nazani yar”, “Dance of Akhaltskha”

1989 – “Requiem” dance suite to the memory of 1988 earthquake victims (staged by V. Khanamiryan)

1995 – “Festive Prelude” folk songs for instrumental ensemble

Since 2000 – over 100 arrangements of original Gusan folk songs for the Gusan and Folk Song State Ensemble of Armenia:

Sayat Nova – 18 songs, Jivani – 8 songs, Gusan Ashot – 7 songs

Sheram – 3 songs

2002-2004 – “Call of Nostalgy” 4 CDs, 60 original songs

2003 – Symphonic images for the documentary “Javakhk-hos kaprink” (1st prize of the Republican competition)

2005 – “Anthem” for the European Athletics Championships

2005 – 7 musical images for Chamber Music Theater

2009 – “Autumn Dreams” for piano and variety symphonic orchestra

2009 – “Dedication” for solo saxophone

2009 – “Nostalgy” for piano

2010 – “Armenia” song-ballad (by H. Hoveyan)
