Born on 25/03/1938 in Leninakan
1964 – graduated from the composition and theory department of the Gyumri Music School (teacher: A. Shishyan)
1969 – graduated from the composition department at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas (YSCK) (prof. G. Yeghiazaryan)
1969-1981 – composition and theory subjects at the State music college after A. Babajanyan (teacher)
Since 1985 – professor of composition at the YSCK
1989 – post of secretary of the Composers Union of Armenia (CUA)
Since 1991 – head of the composition branch of CUA
1999-2002 – dean of the composition department at the YSCK
