BIOGRAPHY

1968 – graduated from the musicology department at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas (YSCK)

1980 – graduated from the Moscow Research Institute of Art Studies (prof. M. Tarakanov)

Professor, lecturer at the Department of Music Theory at the YSCK

1966-1993 – responsible secretary of the art department of the Armenian Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (ASCRFC), and later the position of head

1983-1991, from 1996 – deputy head of the musicological department at the Composers Union of Armenia (CUA)

Since 1998 – member of the CUA board

2002, 2003, 2007 – member of the commission for awarding RA State prizes to workers in the field of art and literature

Since 2001 – member of the scientific council at the YSCK

Since 2003 – member of the Scientific Council of the Art Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA)

Author of more than 150 published works, including books, articles in collections, magazines and periodicals.

Participated in many national and international conferences, seminars, congresses.

The main field of research is music problems, from folk to modern compositional art, author of the first monographs dedicated to national musical rhythms in Armenia.
