THE QUESTION OF UNIFICATION OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IS STILL IN THE FORM OF A PROJECT, THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT IT CANNOT BECOME A REALITY

The fact that the issue of unification of universities is still in the draft stage is not a guarantee that it cannot become a reality. The list of “united” universities also includes the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, the number one professional higher musical educational institution in our country, an educational institution that during its century-long existence has repeatedly confirmed both its high status and the importance of its significance in both Armenian and world musical art. The building of the Musical Forge, erected in the very center of the capital, as a structure complements a huge cultural complex, including the main concert halls of the city, music schools, a dance academy, etc., therefore, the relocation of the conservatory to another location will directly affect the organic activities of the institution. In addition, having united with other higher educational institutions, it will actually cease to function as an independent structure, which is also not beneficial to the institution, especially since the name of the founder of the Armenian national composer’s school, the great Komitas, will seem, to put it mildly, in the background. It is worth noting that in many countries of the world there are academic cities, but this did not affect the closure of conservatories that are vital for the country. On the contrary, the states continued to keep these institutions under their control. After all, a high level of culture is the face of any state.

We must spare no effort and energy so that one of our national treasures, the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, can develop anew in the 21st century, continuing to be one of the main educational institutions of both our capital and our nation. Therefore, on this day and on this occasion, the CUA, which includes almost all members who graduated from this educational institution, and some even work there, expressed their support for the idea that the Yerevan State Conservatory should continue its activities in its own building and not become part of any other structure.
