A CHOIR FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO KARA-MURZA TOOK PLACE ON APRIL 28th

The festival was organized by the Composers Union of Armenia jointly with the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese.

The festival was launched with the blessing of His Grace Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, Vicar of the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese.

His Holiness greeted the organizers, participants and spectators of the festival, expressing joy that this festival will help to better understanding the spirit of Kara-Murza. “And when this spirit penetrates our hearts, souls and minds, we will be more firmly connected to the essence of our national value system and will be imbued with it.”

Aram Satian, Chairman of the Composers Union of Armenia, also greeted the audience. According to him, it is no coincidence that the organizer of this choral festival dedicated to Kara-Murza is the Composers Union of Armenia, since this is an important way of educating the younger generation, and education will bring new ideas and become a source of inspiration for new works. According to him, the Armenian people can make a very important bid for the cultural map of the world, it is only necessary to correctly present the creative depths of our people. Today, many countries would dream of having a 150-year-old choral culture.

Deacon Hovhannes Nersesyan, a clergyman of the Church of St. Sargis, the residence of the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese, an opera singer, spoke about the creative and human qualities of Kara-Murza.

The host of the concert was musicologist Narine Avetisyan, who presented interesting facts about the life and work of the great Armenian.

The festival opened with a performance by the vocal trio “Mailyan” under the direction of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Anna Mailyan. During the evening, pianist Elen Kirakosyan also performed. They performed compositions and arrangements by Kara-Murza.

The opening of the festival featured performances by the choirs of the G. Saryan, A. Danielyan and A. Tigranyan music schools.

The program included works by A. Babajanyan, E. Hovhannisyan, R. Petrosyan, S. Lusikyan, T. Altunyan, A. Satian, R. Amirkhanyan, M. Mavisakalyan, S. Shakaryan, and arrangements by G. Harutyunyan.
