A FESTIVAL OF CHORAL MUSIC WILL BE HELD DEDICATED TO THE 170TH ANNIVERSARY OF CHRISTOPHОR KARA-MURZA

At the initiative of CUA and in partnership with the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, the Choral Music Festival, dedicated to the 170th anniversary of Christophоr Kara-Murza, starts on April 28. A unique project of its kind will unite under one roof choral groups working not only in art and music schools, but also in public schools. Throughout the festival, exclusively works by Armenian authors will be performed.

In the CUA hall, at the 1st concert choral groups of art schools after L. Saryan, A. Danielyan, music school after A. Tigranyan. In the program: A. Babajanyan, E. Hovhannisyan, R. Petrosyan, S. Lusikyan, T. Altunyan, A. Satyan, R. Amirkhanyan, M. Mavisakalyan, S. Shakaryan, G. Harutyunyan (arranged). The evening will appear with their performances pianist Elen Kirakosyan and the vocal trio “Mailyan” under the direction of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Anna Mailyan, who will perform works by Kara-Murza. Musicologist Narine Avetisyan will give an opening speech.

The second concert of the festival will take place on May 18 at the CUA Concert Hall, and the final concert will take place on June 15 at the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.

The goal of the choral festival is to promote the creativity and activities of the famous composer, ensemble leader, musical public figure Christophor Kara-Murza, present choral works of Armenian classical and modern composers, and create a platform on which school choral groups will unite.

It should be noted that Christopher Kara-Murza was the first in the history of Armenian music to establish polyphonic singing. In 1885, the first concert of an Armenian polyphonic song with a four-voice choir took place, which entered the history of Armenian music as a historical event.
