Christophor Kara-Murza was the first in the history of Armenian music to found polyphonic singing.

In 1885, the first concert of Armenian polyphonic singing with a four-voice choir took place, which entered the history of Armenian music as a historical event. The choir was all male, consisted of 15 people and performed in national costumes.
